The National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U) is mandated to coordinate, promote, and monitor IT development in line with national social and economic goals.
Who we are
NITA-U is a Government of Uganda agency under the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance. It provides stewardship and coordination of national information technology initiatives to ensure that ICT is effectively harnessed to accelerate social and economic transformation.
Working with Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), Local Governments and development partners, NITA-U delivers secure infrastructure, shared platforms and standards that underpin e‑Government services nationwide.
What we do
- Plan and coordinate national IT infrastructure and e‑Government initiatives.
- Operate the National Backbone Infrastructure and National Data Centre.
- Provide integration and data‑sharing through UGHUB and related interoperability frameworks.
- Promote cybersecurity, data protection and privacy in partnership with national CERT and stakeholders.
- Develop and enforce IT guidelines, standards, and certification frameworks.
A growing digital government ecosystem
Through national infrastructure, integration platforms and shared services, NITA-U enables hundreds of systems and entities to exchange data and offer services online.
